sunk my massey 4 days ago in some muc. got pulled out by my ford everything seemed fine washed it and then put in in the bar. Wifes car got stuck this morning pulled it out when i got home this after noon with the massey pulled it out fine started to drag some muck out with the scoop and no lift, it worked fine for three or four passes and the some thing was clicking,i think it was the posi traction engager??? it stoped i checked everything seemed fine for a couple more passes and then scoop went down it never came back up but tried for a halfa sec. thats it also left brake feels like it was sticking a little. please help i need 2 know massey 251xe 160hrs the red gear looking light is on the dash i thunk it is the fluid strainer warning that it was clogged ,could that be the problem?

That's your hyd filter restriction light. That's probably a good place to start. You need to drain you Hyd. oil & remove the triangle cover on the bottom to get to the cleanable screen.

thanks that does help alot i wondered what that was i thought it was a gear warning or something.is there a cable that moves the position or the draft control ? i was using the draft at times but dont remember ifit was at that time .what about the clutch or another thing to check after strainer cleaning tommorow does not work out. thanks sorry for the late reply

Strainer cleaning, then we'll go from there. Simple things first. Both draft & position are hooked kinda solid, no cables. But you do need to have them both in the correct position. But if that light is on you need to clean the restriction, you would just be starving the pump for oil, not good.

thanks alot .i'll have to wait till tomorrow raining goats and sheep here water is rising seems my land is draining is draing a 10 acre pond from the neighbors behind me and its flooded me pretty good.by the way what type/brand/amount of hydro fluid shoud i get?

Well I strongly reccomend the best oil you can get. It's not like it gets changed a whole lot. I still pay the premium for the MF Permatran. It seems like very good oil.

thanks and i agree on the best but wow 100 bucks for 5 gallons is wow. is there anything that comes close to this liquid gold.

what about tsc universal it says "exeeds all manufacturer specs and it fits the wallet alot better. also when i pulled the filter out it looked like rv silicant for a gasket is there a gasket i need or do i go back with the rv.there is what looks like a air line on the filter housing 1/8 steel line that goes by the pto engager lever senser idea what that is for

There is nothing wrong with TSC univ. gear oil. I use it in my 1533 with no problems.

RTV is fine if that's what was on there. The line I thought went to the restrictor sensor, it's been a while but that's what I seem to remember.
I would buy the best oil you can justify/afford. $100 does seem a little steep though.

well its happening again do you think there could of been some water or something still in the tractor after fluid change?one more thing is my brake on the right rear is locking up. maybe water or needs to be adjusted. how to adjust or bleed the brake,is it the same fluid or comes from some place else like under the hood?
