We recently bought a used 1985 B7200 (4x2 HST) and I have been noticing it squeals (loud) when I lift my 3pt mower. It lifts it NO problem but it raises VERY quickly, heck can almost lift the front of the tractor it comes up so darn fast. It kind of sounds like the relief valve is opening soon as I start lifting it (mower is about 400lbs to well under the rated weight)
All new HST fluid (proper rating, type, etc..), both hydro screens were removed and cleaned, new hydro oil filter. The HST drive works great and very quietly for that matter.
I am hoping something is out of adjustment and it is not something major. I understand there is a way to test the pressure but I don't believe I have the proper adapter (I just have a quick connect gauge I set up for checking my loader pressure on my newer Kubota) If anyone knows what I need to test it/how to test it that would be helpful.
If it is an adjustment any info would be helpful!
Thanks!

The B7100 models squeal when lifting if you try to feather the lift lever inorder to raise the lift partialy. If you pull the lever back to lift, turn it loose and let the lift stop work it will not squeal. I have never used a 7200 but if it has the same lift design then it would should work the same. As for the speed, There is an adjustment to set lift speed. Check the manual for its location. IMG_2495.jpg I included a pic of the lift stop/float on my B7100.

The B7200 has position control on the 3pt (at least mine did). My guess is that there is something wrong with the linkage/feedback from the 3pt arm to the control valve. Something like the linkage is really slopy or even missing. Maybe the valve itself? There is a flow control valve under the seat, basically a stud sticking up with a roll pin through it to make a T, if I remember correctly, but I think it is only for the lower speed. I had the WSM with mine, you might want to consider one.

Good Luck! :)

I was over working on the tractor and noticed that the 3pt does make the noise when I put it up slowly. If I can sort of pick a spot quickly and let the lift go up quick it makes just a little noise right as it stops. Sort of like the relief valve hits its pressure cap and just for a 1/2 second or so at most. I noticed the rod that connects the handle to the shaft was touching the ROPS and that seemed to transfer even more sound upward. Thank you for the info, I did find out how to slow the lift when going down but no luck on the lift speed. Let me tell you that sucker lifts FAST! About twice as fast as my 5100, so slowing down a bit would be a good thing!
As for the work shop Manual - AGREED! Need to get on that.
