I was curious about the operational characteristics of the 3 point hitch hydraulic lift. My FarmTrac 270 has a 1500+ lbs lifting capacity. I was wondering if you exceeded that is there a relief in there that lets go or is there a possibility of damaging the hydraulics?

Thanks for any info,
John

We can't see a picture, something is wrong.
A bit above your lift capacity isn't a big problem when you do it once, but i think it will give a few problems after a long time when you do it much. This is when you go only a bit above the capacity.
When you are lifting something that is a lot above the capacity i <ill give problems in a short time.

DON'T forget:
When it was possible to lift much more farmtrac would write a higher lift capacity in the specs.

I don't know what I did with the picture, I'll have to try again. The reason I was asking about the lift is that I move several different trailers around with the and have no idea of the tougue weight. I don't think I'm getting close to it, was just curious how that worked. Relief valve or not?

Thanks,
John

I'm not familiar with the Farm Trac, but all tractor hydraulics I've seen have a relief valve that will bypass the fluid at a predetermined pressure, preventing overload. This causes the maximum pressures on the system and overheats the fluid if done very long. I think you'll know it when you overload the hydraulics and would advise not to do it continuously.
