3930 Hour meter

I bought a 1997 3930 and the hour meter dose not work. I bought it from the orginal owner and she said that it had gone bad when the tractor was about 3 years old and she had replaced it. The replacement has also gone bad. Can the hour meter component be replace or do you have to replace the whole dash panel? Is this a common problem for these tractors? Any estimates of cost and difficulty of replacement would be helpful.

I would guess that you could find a replacement that will fit in your tractor without going through the dealer, but I doubt that it will cost more that $50 anywhere. I have only seen basically two types, the round 2" type or the smaller rectangular ones. You might check the wiring going to your existing meter, they are usally 2 wires, ground and power. The power should be to a "key on" location like a fuel cut off or something off the alt.

yes the hour meter can be replace by itself and it will cost more than fifty dollars it would be cheaper if u could find a complete aftermarket assembly it will be around 250 bucks if not a little more
