3830 with 3130 running gear?

Has anybody heard of anybody successfully ordering a L3830 with L3130 wheels/tires and the smaller bucket on a 7 series loader? I like the idea of it....more compact. The 3830 tires are substantially larger than the 3130. -Not sure if it would throw off the gear ratios or not to go with smaller wheels/tires?

My "dealer" said no, but I'm not sure he was totally qualified to be saying so. The guy I spoke with builds them, he doesn't sell them...

If it is possible I'd imagine there would be some kind of shipping costs to get the extra L3130 wheels and tires delivered.

I think the turfs are the same size. As long as the sizing ratios remain the same from front to back, you should be able to put on anything. I too like the lower profile of the L3130 setup, but got the L3830 simply because I was talked into it by two dealers saying I would enjoy the little extra power coupled with my desire to have HST.

The 3130 gear makes the machine a bit more compact for getting around tight corners (construction site) and such. I'm not completely convinced that's the thing to do, I'm going to do, but it's good to know ones options.

The 3830 feels and looks less manuverable with the huge bucket and hulking tires/wheels.

I just got my new L3130 last week with LA723 with 66" HD bucket. The fact that I got the quick attach option made the bucket size swap easier. The size of the dealer might have some effect on how accomadating they are. One small town, high volume dealer I talked with would not cooperate in getting the LA723 loader so I found another dealer and got a better deal.

Maybe, but your turning radius won't improve from tires. Slightly less bucket overhang... why not just buy the 3130? It's cheaper and is a stout machine.

I suspect the dealer wouldn't want to outfit it downspec'd in case of developing a poor rep for hte model.

I want the extra HP for the hydro tranny and so I could easily run a BH90 some day and take full advantage of the 7 series loader. Although people say the BH90 and 7 loader work with the L31, I must say I'm skeptical. Maybe the 3430 is the way to go. They are just about the same size as the L31. My dealer said the extra hp is noticeable. That way I could get a cab......but then you run into the fact that if you get a cab, you can't have a backhoe. I just wish the L38 wasn't so big.

Get the 3130, if your sites are tight you don't need power to be tearing up a storm in there. The 3130 with 723 and bh will do all the 3830 maybe a hair slower.

Both the bh and loader need a heavy tractor to be effective, neither are hp hogs, the 3130 and 3830 weigh almost exactly the same.

I agree Ken, I would just get the L3130 and forget about the HP difference. While it's always nice to have more HP, you will pay for it and you can almost always work around it. Funny thing is, I don't think the difference in size between the L3130 and L3830 is really going make or break whether a job can be done. The width is very close after that, its just a matter of getting familiar with it. After owning a Kubota L48, the L3830 seems so much smaller and admittedly, more nimble.

<font color="black"> </font> Not sure what you mean. I saw a 3130 with a Curtis Cab operating with a 90 BH outside my office window a couple weeks ago. Granted, you operate the hoe "outside" the cab, but there is nothing to stop you from having a cab and a hoe. <font color="black"> </font>

I was thinking factory cab, but I do really like your Curtis? setup. You can take the doors off and such. Factory model you can't.

I need to drag a fairly large boxblade (6')......I like the idea of the 3130, but don't want to be caught without enough HP/weight. Maybe the 3130 is the way to go if I drop back to a 5' boxblade.

I gotta check the weight and hydraulic specs on the two again.

I drove a 4330 recently and it seemed huge (same tires size as the 3830)...maybe that's just because I'm coming from a pipsqueak BX. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

should not be a problem. the dealer get the tires and tractors seperately. when i bought my 3830 all three dealers i delt with were more than willing to put any tire i wanted on the tractor. i did see on a board somewhere not long ago that someone ordered one like that for the mmm to fit with the r4 tires. the smaller tires will also increase the pulling power of the tractor buy dropping the final drive ratio. the spedo would just need to be set to a setting of 2404 to be correct as the setting for turf tires on both the 3130 and the 3830 is the same.

The doors lift right off the 2 hinge pins... mine is a "soft-sided" Curtis cab... plastic, not glass on the doors...

Can get glass panel doors too... "hard sided" cab I guess they call it... dunno if those doors remove easily...

I did get the optional rear glass w/ wiper instead of the roll up plastic per dealer's recommendation...
