3830 Creaking rear wheel?

Hello All,

My 3830 has some creaking/groaning out of one of the rear wheels. Just approachng 40 hours. It is mostly noticeable when reversing very very slowly with low rpms. Anybody have similar symptoms or any thoughts?

I'll be scheduling the 50 hour service and will have the dealer take it a look at it.

I had a similar sound on my B7500 at about the same time (40 hours). It turned out to be the tension bolt on the hub. I re-torqued it and that solved the problem. I was amazed at how loose it had gotten in a short period of time. To torque it easily on mine I had to remove the wheel. Good luck.

Sounds like the bolts that hold the rim to the wheel are comming loose.

Neil, how do you like the Kubota L3830 HST? I've been looking at one for a few weeks now. They will assemble it Thursday.

I absolutely love it, although it is hard to get seat time. Fortunately I have lots of help at the farm. I mowed one field with it and was very pleased. Then the next day I mowed another field with the jubiliee - was not so pleased after that... The 3830 was being used to do some loader work.

I got a set of forks for the quick detach setup. Used them to move some big piles of brush together. Also collected a bunch of pallets and moved some extra concrete block around. My long term goal for the forks is to stack my firewood on pallets and move them around from the wood shed to the house, as needed.

I've used about 25 gallons of diesel (came with a full tank). I have to get a filling station setup - it is a pain to lift the 5/6 gallon containers up.

The foldable ROPS is a pain. With the brush hog on I have to store it in a barn with a short door. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif (Only ran into it once /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif)

Seemed like the quickhitch connections were leaking a little, so I undid them all and gave them a quick turn. Will have the dealer check that at the 50 hour.

I'm new to tractors, but it seems to have enough power to do everything I need to. It seems much more stable than the jubilee. I was going with a 3430, but the dealer got in a 3830 and upgraded me.

I did wish for a bigger tractor once - I got my Unimog in a predicament and couldn't pull it out with the tractor. But that is hopefully a one time event. See attached.

Does this mean you prefer the Jubilee? It sounds like after using the Jubilee, you were not so pleased with the L3830. What about the power, think its OK. In medium range, can you tackle most tasks? Its a area I must trust the dealer since I have yet to have one allow me to take a tractor home, mow my place and say yes or no to it. I really wanted to try the L3130 this way. Your Unimog would probably have taken more then just a CUT to get out, it looks pretty heavy. I don't even know if the one they have resevered for me has a foldable ROPS, I don't need one since my shop door is about 12' tall. I ordered mine with TnT and one extra quick coupled remote set up. How many hours before a fuel fillup is required? My L48 went about 8 to 10 hours on 13 gallons, Rat...

No, I wasn't as pleased as with the jubilee, but my jubilee is in pretty bad shape. I have to hold the throttle and the seat isn't too comfortable. I'd take the 3830 over the jubilee for sure....

I mow in medium range. Use low for loader work. Usually always in 4wd. Seems to have more than enough power. Except I couldn't lift 3 ton of block at once....

(I was way over limit....)

I'm guessing the one you are getting will have less power than your L48, just because it has 10 or more less hp?

Yeah, the mog is a big beast. 7500 lbs or so.....

Don't know about the hours/gallon. Guestimating 1.5 hours/gallon????

Hmmmm.
Just to be clear:

I mowed one field with the 3830 and was very pleased. I used the cruise, the seat was comfortable, couldn't have been happier.

I mowed the other field with the jubilee the next day and was not happy using the jubilee. I would have MUCH rather used the 3830, but it was in use as a loader.
