2005 John Deere 4720
I have been doing some research on Top &Tilt. I need to know if anyone out there has a John Deere factory setup for T&T. I have contacted JD and they are no help. I want to see the items for the stock set up since it is supposed to divert the hydraulics to use the loader joystick. I would like to see where the electric switch is located, the valve body location, he diverter valve location, and the size of the cylinders that they are using. If someone has this setup please post some pictures or send them to my mailbox. TKS

As you may already know, the Top and Tilt kit is really two part numbers. There is the Electric Diverter Kit (LVB25507 for the open stattion (non cab)) and the Top and Tilt Field Kit (LVB25311).

Here is a pic of the diverter switch location: Diverter Switch
It's an iluminated switch (when in diverted mode) just behind the joystick down on the lower portion.

You can kind of see the cylinders in the following pics:
first pic second pic
You can also see the extra bracketry that is added for the extra ports.

I personally find the kit worth the almost $2k. This is my first tractor, so I really have not seen both sides of the fence... but I just can't imagine being without a Top and Tilt setup. From fine tuning the BB, to picking up implements (with the I-match) that were haphazardly dropped off, to tilting the stuff hanging off the back all the way forward for better departure angles in the really rough stuff.

The cylinders are huge and beefy. They are strong enough lift a rear tire with a 6' BB. The sensetivity is great. The action is brisk yet fine. My only suprise was that it only tilts down on the right side. You get maybe 5-10 degree on the left side, but generally it is level'ish with the cylinder all the way in. Same for the tilt. You can tilt the rear skyward quite steeply but only just past level in the opposite direction.

Really appreciate the pics of the t-n-t on your Deere.

Just to verify, is the diverter switch the one I outlined on the attachment?

How is attaching the PTO of the tiller with the hyd lines packed in so tight? I think I'd like the setup you have.

As far as the right to left leveling, won't the lift arm connection on the left side adjust so the cyl. on the right side adjusts above and below level? Seems it would, but might have to remove the pins to do it.

Yes sir, that's the one. I should have done what you did with the pic. Thanks!

I have not yet experienced any access frustrations due to the hoses. I think the I-match is my biggest impediment to the PTO. I am not afraid of getting dirty, so I slide underneath and hook up the tiller and brush cutter. I am probably doing it the hard way, but it's how I learned and I have it down to about 10 seconds. I did participate in a thread a while ago whining and complaining about hooking up to the PTO. It seems to be somewhat of an art. You can't be taught how; it's just in your genes /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Plus I think the darned things just loosened up or something, because now my only problem is dropping the darn shaft on my nads. Not good.

That sounds embarassingly obvious. I will definately check that out!

Jeepinator,

Thanks for the pics.. That is exactly what I needed to see!!! I knew if I put it out there someone would have it here. You gave me in a day what my Deere dealer could not do 6 months. I asked when I bought it and again yesterday on the phone. He is still working on it!!!!!! He also wants 2.5K to purchase and install. I am calling others also. In the pic I could not tell the location of the third SCV outlets on the rear. Do you have them or did they use it as the T & T. Also I see the switch but do you know where they placed the actual valve body for the diverter? Thanks again your awesome!

Hey Jeepinator, I have one more request. Can you post a pic of your setup straight from the rear so I can see the whole back side of the tractor. I need this so I can help educate my dealer. Thanks
