Went to use my tractor and the 3 pt hitch will not raise. My FEL works fine...checked for oil and that was fine.

It is still under warranty, what could be the culprit?

Thanks

I had that problem several times with my 3320. After a lot of investigating and a visit to the dealer, the tech discovered that the FEL dump/curl valve was sticking a little. When the joystick was released, the linkage stuck just a little bit asking for bucket curl. I did not even notice. With the curl cylinder at the stop and the valve still partially open, a pressure release valve opens and diverts fluid back into the sump. When this happens no fluid is routed to the rockshaft and your 3PH will not rise.

The tech lubricated the FEL joystick linkage to the selective control valves and my 3PH has now worked fine for over a year. I never would have guessed that a sticky FEL joystick linkage could kill the 3PH.

I had the dealer look at it and he found the power beyond was loose. But, after he left I put my splitter on and hooked up the hydraulic lines to the power beyond. Funny thing happened, the splitter will work but the 3PH does not. When I put the power beyond back to its normal loop, the 3PH works. Strange....I have called my dealer again.

The new version of the power beyond bypasses the rockshaft (3PH) when an item such as a splitter is hooked up. In the normal loop the fluid flows through that flex pipe and then to the rockshaft. When an implement is attached to the power beyond the return from the implement flows directly to the sump bypassing the rockshaft. Take a close look at where the lines go.
Strange design. I once read an explanation having to do with back hoe use/safety, can't recall. I think that for splitter use, you might safely (at the expense of hose/connectors) circumvent this "better" idea from Deere.

This is "kinda" normal. The PB loop IS designed to disable the 3PH for use with a backhoe. There should be to different places to return fluid, the one you have the splitter hooked to goes directly to the tank bypassing the 3PH. You need to use the one that the loop plugs into when nothing is attached for you 3PH to stay working. A lot of dealers don't even get this concept! You will probably need a different QD fitting to make it work.

What I don't understand, is last year with the same connection it all worked. Hopefully my dealer can figure it out.

Thanks for the help...

This is another good thread for me as I am looking at pulling the trigger on a 3320 or 3520 Cab tractor soon.

And I'm wanting PB with an operational 3pt on my 3520 Cab .... :)

After some of the replies in this thread got my brain workin I headed over to the JD Parts site...
SOOOOO, If I'm seeing this correctly...the PB kit for the 3x20 tractors comes with 3 ports... a "Feed" and 2 Returns. 1 Return Port Bypasses the Rockshaft and dumps directly to the sump...the OTHER port which is used when you plug the "Jumper" hose in, dumps the oil back to the rockshaft...

So if a person would just use the "bypass jumper return" you would have PB with a functional 3pt?
