3616- won't rev/ make power- funny idle- dies if I try to add throttle

Hey guys- I have a 3616- been a great tractor! Today while mowing with the brush hog I suddenly started losing power. I pushed in the clutch and disengaged the PTO but it still would barely idle. If I give it throttle it dies. I pulled the side motor access panel and pulled the air cleaner- no change in running. Then I pulled and cleaned the fuel bowl, bled the fuel system to best of my knowledge (opened screws on top of fuel bowl holder), pulled the fuel hose after the metal filter (I have flow there , and cracked the fittings on the injectors and have fuel there.

It was running great up until that moment. it's been a great running tractor. I think it is something simple but can't think what to do.

I'd appreciate any ideas to check. Of course I'm in the middle of a project when this happens! Thanks in advance,

Try draining the fuel tank. Then check inside for debris clogging the opening.

Yes, at least half fill a clean and dry milk jug to make sure the fuel flows for a long time AND you can see if there is water/fungus/debris in the fuel.

It's not your throttle control lever? Mine has come loose.

Yes, likely the in tank filter.

check the output of the lift pump, too!. if that don't put out enough volume/pressure it can cause the problems you are having.
