3550 industrial

My neighbor was given a 3550 industrial with a backhoe.It has a a shuttle shift trans. The problem is when you first start it and put the shuttle in forward it works fine the first time.If you put it in reverse it works as it should but when you go back to forward it quits working. The shift linkage still moves as it should. It acts like there is a releif valve or somthing sticking open. Is anyone familiar with this trans.

Ive never used or learned about shuttle shift trannys so im no help for this one. I hope you can figure it out though and wish you luck.

I use such a transmission but have never experienced that problem. You mean when you are in reverse, you push the lever to neutral and then to forward and nothing happens ?
