3520 vs 3720

I do live on hilly terrain and noticed the difference in my TC33D when I had rear weight on and the Curtis snow plow. My driveway is 120 feet long and at an incline. Plus I will be mowing up and down hills.

Not sure if this helps or not...

Leaning toward the 3720 but could use the extra money I save on the 3520 for a couple of implements I would like.

I did the side by side with a 4120 and 4720 (both hydro) and I could not tell any difference, but then it was just a tractor and loader. Still, even getting out on the street in high range it would probably be difficult to see any difference without a load attached. See if the dealer will hook up a hay wagon or something for you.

I was looking in the 3520 range myself, but was tempted by the 3720. When I really thought about it, those two models are at the high end of the 3xxx tier, but the 4120 was such an easy step upwards I ultimately went with the 4xxx series. I figured the 'de-tuned' 4120, identical in everything but HP to the 4720, would be a larger, sturdier machine than the 3xxx's I was looking at.

I guess my point is, unless you are dealing with confined spaces and you know you need a 3xxx, the 3720 should be off the table for anyone. Just go with a 4120! It's such an easy step to make.

I agree. If you don't have space limitations, go with the 4120. I did and I love it.

Due to the fact that I am going to use a 6 foot finish mower on my lawn I thought the extra 800 lbs of weight of the 4000 series might cause problems.

And the wheelbase is 71" so I would probably have to go bigger on the finish mower and plow.

It is still in my mind the 3720 but I can still be convinced otherwise. I have some time to decide (a week).....

Went and looked at the 4000 series tractors and they were larger then I required or wanted physically. I think it's the 3720.

NYBOB, I think you made the right choice. I must admit that input from this thread made me seriously reconsider the 3720 that I have on order. I'm glad that happened since I may have been second guessing myself afterwards. For my purposes, the 3720 is the right tractor for cutting large areas of relatively flat lawn with a 72" MMM plus occassional brush hog, loader, leveling and tilling work a few times each year. I think the slightly better manueverabilty, lower weight and lower sound levels were considerations. However, I can certainly see the added value the 4120 brings for just a little more money if I were not using my tractor for so much MMM lawn work.

Space considerations must be considered. I have had both a large frame and mid frame machine, and can say I enjoyed both, but on my property the mid frame machine definitely is the better choice, although I did like the larger machine. Sometimes bigger is not better with regard to machinery.

3720, bigger in your case is more versatile.

A clarification, by bigger, I am referring to the posts suggesting going to a 4120 v. a 3720.
