3520 3 pt hitch

I recently purchased a new 3520. My first CUT. I started doing grade work in a new subdivision and thought my 5203 was a little large for working around new homes and spreading dirt. Anyway, I was using the 3520 with a boxblade to push some debris aside and one side of the boxblade hit a tree about 4" in diameter and bent both lift arms on the hitch. Wasn't going fast because like I said I work around new homes. Are the lift arms on the 3000 20 series that weak? Any one else have a problem with bending lift arms?

Apparently your arms are not tough enough to withstand the hit you put to your box blade.
Were you backing up at the time?

Were the horizontal sway bars fastened to prevent side movement (sway) to the 3pt?

Sorry to hear of the problem with the bent arms, but be somewhat relieved that they protected something else from breaking. A casting could be more expensive. Something has to give in the situation you describe. Hopefully one just loses traction.

Lot's of damaged arms from hitting things while backing up with a blade or a box blade, according to past threads here.

I WILL be surprised if Deere doesn't warranty the arms, at least the first time it happens. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Ouch. I've been lucky myself as I have learned that any heavy loads should be pulled. Arms are just not designed to take side loads or pushing backwards real heavy loads. I do push quite a bit and have hit roots but have been very lucky so far. Now that I know what I know, I avoid the big stuff especially 4" trees.

I would be surprised if Deere does warranty your arms. I hope they'll do it for you though. Can you heat them up and bend them back?
