Hi
I just aquired a new to me very used ford 3500 backhoe/loader. I am doing some maint. and repairs before putting it to light work here on the place. It is making a grinding, sounds like a shaft turning/rubbing on metal, from the right rear side, perhaps under the right hand part of the seat area. Its hard to hear exactly because I have to be moving either forward or backward for it to make the noise. which of course means the engine has to be running and it makes it hard to hear exactly. With both rear tires lifted and tractor put in gear, it does "not" make the grinding noise. It is quiet when lifted and not under a load. I have changed the right rear bearing(seal was leaking anyway) and it made no difference. End play on axle is ok.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Can the right diff bearing be renewed without pulling the left trumpet? Any ideas to what else it may be?
thanks
