Has anyone done axle seals on a 3500 backhoe? Looking for advice mine are shot!
Thanks!

Before you do anything drastic, elevate the rear using stabilizers and bucket/boom and see if the bolts holding the axle flange to the hub are loose. Mine on both a 9N and my 3500 get loose and let trans oil escape, making me think that the seals are gone. Re-tighten them, and the leak goes away. After using the tractor for a while, they can get surprisingly loose.

Thanks, but all the oil is inside the drums.pulled the axles the bolts were very tight.got the new seals. The inner seals looked good but had hardened from age. I suspect the same for the outer seals. Working on a axle nut wrench now. Should have everything done this weekend sometime. Will take some pics and post.
Thanks for the response it is always helpful!
