Looks like the lever (valve) beside the seat is an add on and only installed when you get the belly mower which I did. They could have did a little cleaner job cutting out the notch for the lever at the dealer. It looks a little rough. Functional though. So PB is probably the only way if you are running a back hoe or other big hydraulic users. For my purposes I can make my mower lift lever put fluid flow back there for a splitter.
What is the configuration of the hydraulic system on these tractors? How many pumps are there for running everything? It looks like basically one resevoir for everything? I'm pretty ignorant of how it all works. I learn something new every time I log on to this site!

The valve is a "rear remote" option, also called the 3rd SCV by JD that can be used for many things, like angling a rear blade, or operating a grapple on the FEL, raising the MMM, ect.

So PB is probably the only way if you are running a back hoe or other big hydraulic users.
Yes, and ideally your log splitter, but the rear remote will do just fine.

There are 3. One for steering, one for implements, and the main hydrostatic pump.

That is correct.

buckeyebrad, that's odd. Mine was dealer installed and has a new collar around the controls. Mine has a cab, but I'de think for the cost (I expected it to come as part of the mmm option for the price) it should look factory installed. Buut I also thought when I ordered the extra SVC I would get the extra one. Not the one they decided to use for the mmm.

Brought it home the other evening. Bought the hoses and the pipe thread bushings to go from 3/4 to the 1/2" hose I bought at TSC. Decided to buy the other ends at my Dealer so I made sure they were the ones that fit my 3rd service. When I got there I told them I had 1/2" hose with pipe thread fitting on each end. Bought the ten dollar apiece fittings he gave me without hesitation and he assured me they were the ones I needed. Me with tunnel vision only daydreaming about me splitting giant logs with my new splitter didn't bother to check the fitting to the hoses to see if they would thread on. Once I got home I started to figure out the rubik's cube combination of fittings it was going to take to fit up to the special O ring type hydraulic fittings I got from the dealer. My dealer is almost an hour away. I was bumming until I went to my trusty automotive store who makes up hoses and happpened to have the ends that plugged in to my tractor and were pipe thread at the other end so they threaded right on to my hoses.
Enough of the pissing and moaning. Splitter works awesome so far. I haven't split anything too hard yet, but speed and power seems to be plenty for my purposes even idled down to about 1500rpm. A little slower will be just fine when my trusty wife and kids help out some time when I don't have time to run it. Bungy strapping the 3rd service lever back to put flow to the splitter is not going to be an inconvenience at all as far as I'm concerned and there seems to be plenty of pressure at the splitter. Thanks for all the helpful information all!
