Does anyone run 2 rear work lights on their 3320. I know the part number is LVB25547 but the dealer says the wiring can only support the wattage of 2 front and 1 rear.

If this is the case.. what is the consensus on changing the rear lights to LED's - that would drop the draw and make things OK no??

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

I currently run 2 front and 2 rear lights on my 3203 without any problems. The lights are not Deere, (got some small rectangle lights from Wal-Mart). Deere runs 2 seperate light source wires which are located under the seat for this specific purpose. If the wires could not handle the load then why would Deere install them in the first place. Just my 2 bits of info.

Many people do it. I did not like the Deere's install of all-on all-off. I have a 3320 and did my own install with lights from tractor supply.

I decided I wanted front and rear lights, a 12V rear receptical for my sprayer, and I wanted them all seperately controlled.

I installed a 30 amp relay system to seperate the lighting/receptical circuit from the tractor. I used the rear lighting connection to switch on the relay. It actually supplys low amperage 12V to the .005amp magnetic coil in the relay. This closes the high amp (up to 30 amp) circuit that draws its 12V power from its own 8ga battery wire directly connected to the battery and fused at 10" from teh battery. The 8ga 12V + 30amp-out of the relay then goes to a spade terminal block to supply 12V positive to my accessories. From there I ran wires to switches in the right hand control panel and then back to the lights and 12V receptical. I used John Deere switches to make the install clean.

I have a ground block as well and use it to ground the relay and the 12V receptical. The lights I ground to the ROPS.

This power and receptical circuit is seperate from the tractor wiring and its switches and will not harm the tractor at all. I could not be sure of the rating on the headlamp switch and decided not to risk my $20K tractor.

I have less than $100 in this entire install with 4 lights, the ROPS mounted lighting brackets from deere, 3 deer switches, 30amp 12V automotive Bosch relay, 12V receptical cig/lighter receptical, two spade terminals, spades, wiring (8ga and 12Ga), fuse and fuse holder, grommets, loom, zip ties, and a plastic kit box from radio shack.

I think it is far superior to Deere's expensive all-on or all-off non-factory-wiring-independent install. But then again I like overkill too so take this post FWIW.

One other thought, Deere supplys a splitter to take each side of the ROPS wiring connection and spit it into two connections. Their kit allows for the wiring of two lights on each side of the rops. I know the configuator does not allow for two fronts and two rears but the kit does.

When you say: "Deere supplys a splitter to take each side of the ROPS wiring connection and split it into two connections" are you saying it is already in the existing harness or a kit you must buy? I did install a JD rear work light and my own rops lights for forward illumination. I would love to have one more rear light. Are you saying I could buy another rear work light and the wiring is already in the harness and switchable with the headlight switch as the existing rear worklight is?

Regards,
Mike

When I had my 3320 the dealer installed two front and two rear additional (I think 35 watts each) lights. - No problem at all. The alternator has plenty of juice. I now have the same setup (2 front, 2 rear additional) on my 3720 cab but that does have a bigger alternator but that is mostly for the additional electrical of the cab stuff - Radio, Fan, A/C, etc.

That depends on the wattage of the bulbs. Your tractor has a 40 amp alternator. The tractor itself probably uses less than 10 amps. That leaves 30 amps, or 360 watts for 12v accessories. If your aux. lights are 35 watt units, you could run ten of them with power to spare.

If they are 50 watt bulbs, you will have to limit yourself to a measly 7 lights.

guys.. thanks for the info.. I will be calling JD Dealer today to order a second light.. @ $40. incl. harness it's not too bad.. Excellent idea to isolate them on their own switch.. I may end up doing just that. thanks again.
