Hi Guys,

New to me (about 2 months) 3320. 2007 cab model with 2200 hours. Quite a few hours, but got it from a friend at the "friend price" and he takes care of his equipment

Machine has been solid since I got it and I really like it. However I have been cutting grass on the weekend last couple of months and after about and 1 to 2 hours the machine will just shutoff. I crank it again and it will start after about 5 seconds of cranking and will run for 10 minutes and then do again. If I let it sit for a few hours it usually is OK. This has happened about 5 to 6 times already in the last month.

* Sounds like a fuel issue, but why does it happen only have a few hours of work?
* My 2320 has not had this issue and they both are filled from the same diesel tank.
* Is this a symptom of a need for injector service?
* I haven't changed the fuel-filter yet as my friend "said" he changed all filters before he gave it me.
* I don't see any water in the "bowl"
* Fuel tank has been between half and full when this happens.....haven't let the tractor get below half yet.

Wanted to get some of your thoughts before I started changing filters, etc.

Thanks,
BILL

I'd put a fuel filter on it just for a baseline. Cheap enough. And then you know it has been done.

Did you check to see if the tank has a vacum on it when it stalls? Maybe a clogged breather. Next time it stalls, take the cap off and see how long it runs. Also, maybe one of the electric switches or the injector pump solenoid is going and it only happens when it is hot(for now). Verify you have 12V on the injector solenoid when it won't start. Is there any smoke from the exhaust when it won't start?

Thanks for the comments so far guys. I am going to change the filters and see what happens. If the stall happens again, I will try the debug that you guys mentioned and see if I can figure something out.

Thanks

does it only happen when you go up or down a hill?

Maybe look into the tank and see if you can see anything down there - maybe it blocks the pick up tube at times..

just a few thoughts

Update:

Mowed for over 2.5 hours yesterday and did not have any issues with the tractor dieing.

Things done to tractor before mowing:

* Opened the drain-cock on the fuel water bowl.....a little water came out, then fuel.
* Tightened the AC Compressor belt that was loose (started squealing day before)

Neither one of those seemed very significant to be the cause for my issue.

I have not had a chance to get to the dealer yet for new fuel filters....so that is still a variable to change out.

I'll update when I know more
Thanks,
BILL

Did you pull the petcock? I had a similar problem a few years back. Turned out the petcock was clogged with a couple bugs that found their way in.
