The glow plugs would be a major suspect. Does the plug indicator illuminate when 'ya hit the key?

First have you checked the battery and cleaned connectors to eliminate it being and issue with cranking speed.

The engine doesn't always need the plugs to fire, they help heat the combustion chamber only, but it does need compress and cranking speed to generate the needed heat to ignite the diesel.

I understand the plugs are not always needed. Was just trying to help; promote a little dialog with the OP...

well i can tell ya i was messing with my glow plug connector, and the difference between 1 revolution and start vs 10 seconds and it still not starting, makes a big difference on mine

Yes a tractor can start w/o plugs especially in warm weather. I just wouldn't make it a habit. Why spin a starter assembly more than you have to?
Check the lead wire going to the glow plugs. The connection is a weak link area on these.

I'm glad you mentioned it and remember people post here for help so any comments can be helpful.
I keyed in having to use the starter fluid only the first time and starting ok without issue later. I'm assuming he uses the glow plugs later to start without issue.
He didn't post his location so temperature might be a factor.

Thanks for all the input yes the glow plug light comes on. I have no issue with it cranking if it sets for couple hours it fires right up quick. It’s only after it sets over night. After i get cranked for first time it will fire up rest of the day as soon as u hit the key. If that makes any sense!!

And that’s when it’s warm weather! Seems like I’m losing prime!
