325 ignition problem

Engine Kawasaki FH531-AS04

On this 325 if I remove the black wires (3/16 side connector) from the ignition coils I get full spark and the engines runs fine. Connect the black wire and the spark is cut. I do not have the service manual for the 325 and I could not trace the wires back. I do have the manual for the 425 but the coils are different so not much help.

I did notice that the alternator / battery light stays on with the wires disconnected. Not sure if this is related or not.

I suspect these wires wires are for the kill circuit but not sure if they feed into the time delay circuit & or all of the safety switches.

Any suggestions on how to trace these wires or were they go?

I believe that the JD 325 with the Kawasaki engine does not have a time delay circuit. Don't know about safety switch's though.

Well lacking a wiring diagram, there are some other options. One is to purchase one of those line tracer products that inject a a signal into a circuit and then you use a tracer to find were the wire goes.

Appreciate the help and confirms the wire in question is for the kill circuit.

Found the problem. A bolt holding the blade engagement switch in place came out and fell down and wedged in behind the ignition circuit board shorting out some terminals. Not sure which components were damaged but a new circuit board fixed the problem.

FYI: on this model the all of the safety circuits are also connected via this circuit board.
