322 Charge Light On

My 322 charge light comes on dimly while running both in idle and full speed. All voltage checks per the manual are fine both A/C and D C at the regulator as well as at the battery. I replaced the voltage regulator, battery and ignition switch. The charge light goes out when I turn the headlights on. I am thinking there is a short in the light circuit?

Sounds like a bad ground circuit.

Troubleshooting per TM and find it cranks and starts while in forward or reverse. the switch tests ok so per TM it is relay ground. I will try to follow the wiring back to test. The problem started when I burned up the regulator, even burned out one of the regulator lugs and much of the first 4 inches of wire coming out of the regulator.
