317 John Deere Mower

Evening guys, looking at a 317 with a kohler magnum 18 horse engine, 48" deck, with front hydro. outlets. This is something to help my 4200 and its 48" 3 point mower help with the mowing chores. Any thing to watch out for on these models. It is all there, runs, and mows with minimal surface rust. My father n law has a mower shop so parts wont be a problem. Pros, cons, good, bad, and ugly. I can get into this one fairly cheap. Probly take it on as a restore project along the way. Thanks LUTT

Sounds like the engine problem has been taken care of , go for it . The 300 series tractors are some of the best design work JD ever put out .

Steering is tough as no power steering as opposed to 318
