3140 3 point links are stuck up.

Hey Guys,

Any idea why the arms on my 3 point hitch are stuck at the top position? Moving the control up or down does not affect anything, nor load the engine. I have even tried to unscrew the rate of drop screw in front of the seat. I took it right out, with the tractor off and they still didn't drop.

I wasn't even using the 3 point links the other day and just noticed they are up at the top still. Fluid is at the correct level and clean. New filter and cleaned the screen not even 2 hours ago, but was 6 months ago. Is there a lock on it or something that I might have hit by accident?

I have even tried to use another tractor with a loader to put some pressure on the arms but they still wont drop. Tractor has been off for days and they are still up.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Try moving the L/D control lever(parts key #2) by seat to different settings. It's possible a spring(parts key #5) under rockshaft housing broke.

We had a similar problem with a 2305 at work. The arms stuck up and wouldn't drop. Our problem was salt had rusted the balls on the arms. We use a 3 pt salter for sidewalks. It took a lot of PB blaster and a hammer to remove the arms then clean the pins with emory cloth then used never sieze to reassemble.

Alright guys don't laugh!!!

A C-clip which connects the arm to the rock shaft housing has popped off or rusted out and the connecting leaver just slipped off! At least it was a cheap fix...
