Anybody remember the old ford and ferguson's with the exhaust run under and exiting at the rear of the tractor? How about one for the 3054, wouldn't that be neat?

Didn't they quit putting that exhaust under the tractor to keep up from setting dry grass on fire with a hot exhaust? You might also expect to blacken whatever implement you had on the back end with a diesel exhaust if it went too far back.

Hey Bird mine hasnt burned anything....my implements get dirty any way. I dont think the diesel will get hot enough to cook anything...maybe that was just the gas burning engines...but then again...who has DRY grass /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Diesel exhaust is a much lower tempertature than gasoline. That is why trucks and tractors can have their exhaust underneath the units and not have to worry about starting fires. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Please forgive the newbie questions, but what exactly are you gaining by doing this? Seems like the exhaust would now be vulnerable to damage if you hit something with it. Where was it before?

My 4300 just has the exhaust exit to the lower left front.. seems to work okay so I never gave it much thought.

Are you trying to avoid breathing the fumes?

Tks,
Bob
