3038E vs 3005 Which one?

I also looked at the other "3000" series of JD. The 790 or 3005 now, I just kept going back to. Yes, it does not have some of the whistles and bells of like sized green tractors but the track record and no frills, simple design it has I liked very much. I do alot of field work cultivating, harrowing, tilling, mowing in rows on the tree farm, wich vary in width do to different tree sizes. The 790 could be narrowed right up to 48 inches from lug to lug on the R1 rear tires. something other 3000 series could not do.

If one lives in wide open spaces and needs a solid, trouble free tractor, the 3005 is a great choice. I could likely not do well with one due to the amount of direction change I do with my daily chores. That said, I have always liked the 790 (now 3005). I do not know what JD is planning for the 3203, but in my mind, it would be a much better option than a 3032E for our OP if he wants a hydro transmission. My dealer has several 3203's on his lot, and even if JD phases it out (which would seem to make since if they are going with the E series machines) they likely will be around for a while.

Well sports fans, I took the Nestea Plunge and brought home a brand-spankin'-new 3038e today!!!

Although it was raining cats and dogs I HAD to take her for a spin around the back forty. It was AWESOME. I can't wait to put her through her paces.

I'd like to thank everyone for their opinions. I setted on the 3038e over the 3005 for a few reasons:

Horse Power.
Ease of use.
FEL lift capacity.
TPH lift capacity.
Roomier operator area and ease of mount/dismount.

Time will tell if I made the "right" decision and I WILL keep you all informed as to my perceptions of performance.

Here's my baby when she arrived at her new home:

Is it snowing there yet??? You do not have any snow removal equipment with it. Maybe go get some before it comes. You have a very nice machine, and the other forum members including me will be interested to get some reports from you about it, since you have one of the first among the posters.
