:confused2: Need some help understanding the synchro shuttle and non-synchronized transmission on the G models. Specs say it has 3 ranges (must be at full stop to change range) and 3 forward and 3 reverse in each range (must be at full stop to change gears). You can switch from forward to reverse at very slow speed using the shuttle, but must be at full stop to change gears.

Am I missing something here? Would you not burn out a lot of clutches starting off in what would be 12th gear? or 11th or 10th for that matter. I have an older 6F/2R David Brown, but I can change from H2 to H3 just be depressing the clutch while I am rolling... real hard on the clutch to start off in H3.

Thanks for any help in wrapping my head around this spec. I really feel the 3038 is the size and price for working my 30acre tree farm.

I've got the S3010 with only hi/low range and 4 gears. It is true that I have to shift everything from a dead stop other than the forward/reverse shuttle. I tried shifting in motion for the heck of it -- didn't work, just grinded. Besides, the speed pretty much drops to nothing as soon as you hit the clutch pedal. The higher forward gears (3&4 high) seem to be just transport/road gears. I haven't had any problem engaging 4-high with the loader on and the cutter attached, but it is weird taking off like that from a full stop. Top speed of the S3010 is only around 12-13 MPH, but it would beat me to death (or maybe even roll over) if I tried to go that fast on anything but a fairly smooth surface. Go take one out for a spin at the dealer to see what you think. By the way, I use 1-low a lot more often than 4-high.

Thanks Lil' Blue. Just wanted to make sure I was correct that all of the Gs are non-synchronized shift.

Looking at G3038 ($15200), R3039 ($17200) and the Kioti CK35 ($16250). I have not driven any of them but do have some seat time (non running, just comparing feel) on the CK35 and a G3033 (did not have either of the others in stock) model on the dealers lot. CK35 is way better feel than the 3033 with comfortable seat and tilt steering and joy stick located on tractor instead of on loader..

The R3039 does upgrade from G to fender mounted joy stick, better seat, tilt, remotes, extensible lift arms and other upgrades. Guess I am trying to convince myself it is worth the extra $$.

it should have 3 ranges to your left(must be stopped to change) and 4 speeds that you can shift through on the right just like a car. the shuttle lever by the steering wheel controls forward and reverse. all speeds forward and reverse.

i just looked, i thought all 12 speeds were full syncro. i guess they are not, have to jump to the r series to do what i described. see if you can find any more McCormick Ct series left over. i got r series options with g series price. McCormick switch to kioti as a supplier and were giving good deals on the LS built Ct series.

I did it... I order the R3039 today. True Mitsubishi 4 cyl (not dising the LS engine, but Mits is tried and proven). Feel like I got a good deal. 17K delivered to my farm.
