Good to know, thanks. I'd expect factory oil to be break-in oil. I would have never thought that it would take 100 hours to break an engine in. I found another reference where Yanmar didn't recommend use of synthetic oil until after 250 hrs to ensure proper break-in.
My dealer said that after 100 hours I'd be good with Synthetic... Really depends on what & how you use it...I purposely gave her a workout with the snowblower last winter, and the break in oil helps with breaking em in. I can see Yanmar's recccomendation when using normal oils because normal oils are so good these days.
At the link provided for the break-in oil they say "John Deere" engines specifically. I'm wondering if these means Yanmar engines or not. From what I can tell on their website the larger engines aren't made by Yanmar.
I wouldnt be worried, IF it were a no-no, you'd think they would put a warning saying "not for use in Yanmar engines". My dealership said it was used in EVERYTHING from a pushmower up to the big boy machines were factory filled with Break In Oil...
