3020 Gas Price Check

Hi all,

Looking to upgrade my equipment to do some low scale haying as I can acquire parts. I have a (2004) 2210 with 800 hours and have found a (1964) 3020 gas with 3400 total hrs and 1200 since rebuild for $6800. My 2210 has a FEL and MMM. Do you think at a JD dealer this would be a even trade in? Is the price on the 3020 too high?. Just looking for sites thoughts as you guys have always helped in the past. I thought the trade would leave them enough margin for resale and get me a bigger machine.

That tractor is listed on tractordata @77 engine HP. You know you got to feed the horses to work them, right? I would say it is a gas hog.

You may be looking for awhile for a dealer to take that trade. I think you'll have to ante up some cash.

I think it is on the high side for a gas engine, i've seen diesels around here going for that. It is harder to find a 3020 diesel here, most folks won't give them up that own them.
If you look on Tractorhouse, your unit is listed around 7k w/o loader or mower, i'd be willing to bet the dealer will work close with you unless he is large AG & would have a hard time selling yours.

Don't know about the trade deal but the dealer you would trade with is who to talk to.

Do you have pictures of the 3020? More information is needed to provide value for the tractor. With only 17 hours a year I would be a little suspect of the tach/hour meter. Things such as sheet metal being intact and complete, tire condition wear on the drawbar are just a few things to look at. Was the tractor stored inside or outside?

I am planning to check with the dealer, but wanted to make sure my thinking was not all wet. The dealer selling the 3020 has multiple store fronts and looks to sell more compact/subcompact/lawn equipment vs big AG. I also do realize it will use much more fuel but also get me into a more usable machine for what I want to do. I will muddy the waters a bit more and found 2130 on TractorHouse for a $100 more than the gas. I am leaning toward that being the way to go as long as shipping won't kill me. I am going to go see both machines this weekend and talk with both dealers about the trade.
