I received a letter from Mahindra yesterday indicating that there is recall on my 3016HST. Apparently some portion of the upper lift arms "have not been machined to specification". The dealer also called to arrange a time to make the necessary repairs.

I received the same notice. Look at it as a sign of Mahindra's commitment to quality.

I have no issue with it....just thought I would post it in case others on the forum had purchased their tractors used and did not receive any notice.

Is there anything in the notice that mentions the recall only affects a certain series of serial numbers and if so could you post those serial numbers as additional information.

MarkF48,

My notice only had my serial number, not a series.

Mine also only had my serial number but in talking to the dealer there is a specific series if serial numbers effected.

My particular dealer has done a few of them and said the fix is straightforward. They would even ship me the parts and prepaid return postage for the old part back (I am 3 hrs one way from the dealer).

If you know, what exactly is the fix?

This recall is limited to a small production run of 16 series tractors, and it is a simple enough thing. The cast iron rockshaft arms that rotate to lift or lower the three-point have tapered holes to accept tapered pins. My understanding is that the taper in the cast iron parts is not exactly matched to the taper of the pin. A batch were machined wrong. Honestly, I doubt it would ever create a problem. But Mitsubishi found the problem and wants it to be fixed so that years from now there are not failures of that part. I was impressed that they would do this. We have not seen even one problem manifest itself from this mis-match, but all the same it should be corrected.

The dealer should do the work. It is easy enough, but if you are a little careless you can do it wrong and have to tear the entire rockshaft assembly off to fix it. And the linkage needs to be adjusted precisely when done.

I received the same notice. The dealer is actually coming to my home to perform the repair, which I thought was great. Very happy with my Mahindra!
