3005 transmission problems

Just wondering if anyone out there has been into the transmission on a 3005 with 8 x 2? The problem with this one is a broken 2nd/3rd shift rail. Obviously it requires a split between center and rear main housings for openers, but what next? Parts book shows a cover over the gears and forks, and I'm hoping that will provide enough access to the fork and related roll pin(s), detents etc to get the broken pieces out and a new shaft in. Any thoughts?

Yep, with tractor split and cover off it's a doable project if your handy with the nut and bolt side of mechanics.

Thanks. I was hoping that might be the case, but you don't know 'till you try, and by then it might be too late. I've been stung more than once trying to access something based solely on parts diagrams only to find out "you can't get there from here".
