Soon it will be time for the 300 hr. tranny change. No problem draining and refilling the transmission. However, since the fluid is also used for the hydraulics, how do you change the old fluid in the attachments? (loader, hoe, etc)

Thanks,

Doesn't need to be done. By draining and refilling the sump, you're replacing 99% (?) of the fluid.

Does yours call for a fluid change at 300 hours. I know most of the new Kubotas are doing it at 50, 200, 400 etc.

You are correct Rat; it is the service hour sequence you mentioned. However, I don't believe the previous owner of my machine performed the 200 hr change, so I thought I would perform the tranny change at 300, just to make it easy to remember the sequence. Sorry to all for the confusion.

Someday, I'll probably get back on the mfr's schedule just to make it easier from a reference standpoint, but it's not a big deal since I keep a maintenance log on all my vehicles and I also write the "change" hours and date on the filters with a marker. (easy reference away from the garage!)

I also keep in the log the filter numbers, wrench sizes, capacities and any other relevant maintenance info related to that specific vehicle. I'm soon adding a duplicate electronic log to make it easier to access the info from other locations, e.g. work.

Have a nice day!

As a newbie to this tractor world - I have to admit being VERY suprised by the stated requirement inmy operator's manual to change the Hydraulic fluid - all 43 quarts of it - every 200 hours.

Surely this is overkill.

Please comment

PS my car has to wait 10,000 miles for new oil like all other Euro cars.

I figure the manufacturers have good reasons for their change intervals, so I follow them. Each person is free to make their own decisions. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I am all for changing fluids and filters but I hate wasting money. If it needs it thats one thing if not then don't change it IMHO.
The big question is how do you know.
Oil test. Blackstone labs and others will test your sample and let you know if it really needs it. Cost is ~$20 plus shipping.

I have my diesel truck, tractor oil and hydro oil tested from time to time.
The hydro oil is a big deal for me since its 15 gallons! Yep thats about $100 worth of oil!

The latest sample, taken at the recommended change interval, came back fine showing, clean oil and no break down. So I changed the filter only. This ends up loosing only about 1 gallon so I saved quite a bit.

Rat, my B7500 manual calls for the Transmission oil and filter to be changed at 50, 300, 600 hrs and every 300 hrs afterward.
