Taking care of 5 acre's. I'm looking for a 30hp tractor to mainly mow with and use for different little jobs around the house and Deer lease.
Tractor will be mainly used for mowing, moving dirt and odd jobs..(playing).
I have looked at these 3 tracotrs L3400, L7800 and the B3030.
Anyone have any comments on which would be the best.....I sure like the new B3030...

I looked at the B7800 and the B3030 and it seems (to me) the B3030 isn't worth the extra dough. Look at the specs in the catalog and the two are almost identical -- I think the 3030 has 1 more hp to the pto but very few other differences, other than some creature comforts and sleek headlights -- but I don't think it's worth the $2,000 price difference.

(I am getting a 7800 in the next couple of weeks)

Think of the B3030 as the Cadillac and the B7800 as the Chevy. Mechanically they are very similar tractors, the B3030 comes with a lot more standard features including the MID-PTO. The B7800, if I recall correctly, offers the MID-PTO as an option. Since you are looking for a tractor that will be a mowing machine with secondary uses, you should seriously consider the Mid-Mount Mower. The B3030 has other small touches as standard that are either not available on the B7800 or are added cost options. Consequently when you look at the two, consider what you are doing with the tractor. Some people end up closing the price gap between the B7800 and the B3030 by adding options, which makes the B3030 a smaller price step up. Now if you don't need/want those options, then the price gap is pretty wide.

The L3400 is one of the economy series Kubotas. It is more of a mid-weight tractor, where the "B" series tractors are ultra-light tractors. I think the L3400 is a nice machine, but is not as refined or fully featured as the "B" tractors. As you are planning on doing a lot of mowing, consider the added weight of the L3400 as a disadvantage.

For mowing and for loader work, the HST transmission options will make your life much easier and more fun too.

I use a B2910, which has been replaced by the B3030 this model year and I would not want to trade the deluxe options for a more basic model as the B7800 has, but that is simply my personal choice. I look at it from the standpoint that the tractor will last for a couple of decades, the convenince features, for me, are worth the added price.

Welcome to TBN. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I have a B2910. It is the same tractor as a B7800 with the premium features. I have looked at the B3030 with thoughts of upgrading to it. Changed my mind after finding that my FEL attachments will not fit the B3030.
I prefer the features that make the B3030 a more expensive tractor.

Thanks guys.
I do like the Mid-mount mower idea. I believe it would make it easier for the wife to mower if she didn't have to worry about what is going on behind her.
I'm going to go to the dealer this week and get a price for the B3030 and the B7800 with MMM and FEL.

Is there another Brand of Tractor that would compare to the B3030? I just wondered what a comparable tractor in a different brand would be priced?.

Kubota really excells in the light tractors. I'm not sure that anyone really makes a comparable machine. Most other brands are going to be much heavier, and with your desire to mow, that is not a good thing. I am not familar with all the John Deere models, they may have a 30hp tractor that is also fairly light. I've got a smaller New Holland that is only 24hp, is about a foot & a half shorter than the the B2910, and is nearly as heavy!

What are the major differences between the B7800 and the B3030? Perhaps the local dealer didn't explain enough to me (and the brochure doesn't show that much difference other than weight). I'm probably buying my 7800 next week but perhaps I can be convinced that the 3030 is worth the extra dough. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Scott, I'm not sure there are "major" differences between the two tractors but there are lots of minor differences.

The B7800 has standard lower links VS the B2910/B3030 has extendable lower links. For me the difference is swearing and busting my knuckles when I change implements VS backing up, getting pretty close, hopping off and simply attatching the implement.

The B7800 has "quarter inching valve" on the 3pt, the B2910/B3030 has position control. Simply the postion control is better, easier.

The B7800 does not have a folding ROPS . . . make sure it will fit in your garage before driving in. The B2910/B3030 do.

I don't think the B7800 has a tilt steering wheel.

The B2910/B3030 has a mid-PTO as standard.

I believe there is more lift capacity on the 3pt of the B3030 by a few hundred more pounds.

The B3030 is simply a more refined design in most every way except the engine and the frame. The B3030 also adds some sleek sheetmetal, upgraded lights, etc. Again, from the functional standpoint, you'll find a lot of very very happy B7800 owners, but those of us who use B2910's won't give them up! The B3030 that I got to play with impressed me in little ways that made the B2910 look a little old in comparision.

According to the brochure I have the lift capacity is the same for the 3030 and 7800.

But sounds like it's worth a second look before I sign on the dotted line! Thanks for the info.
