3 pt hitch logging winch, is any one better than another?

I have a 35 hp tractor and looking for a logging winch. I do have a skidder for logging, however I'm looking for a winch to pull trees/ tops of trees over on jobsites. Also as a counter weight for my tractor. Does anyone have any suggestions? I live in the New England area and don't mind travelling a distance for equipment. Any information or experiences would be appreciated!

Good luck finding what works best for you, but remember log skidding with a tractor is very dangerous. Be safe

I have a Norse, sold by Labonville in NH and Maine. It has been an excelent winch, there service has been second to none. Had a Farmi for years and that was a good winch as well, however much higher price tag when we replaced it. Went with the Norse and never regreted it.

I have an Igland 4001.Igland makes Norse,I don't think I could be any happier with it.I use it on a tc40da.
I'm pretty sure it's the same as a Norse 390.

There's an outfit near Utica, NY, Hudson's, that sells both Farmi and Uniforest. You might check them out. I bought a Uniforest from them for some land clearing work we'll be doing.

The various brands are generally similar in design and apparently all work pretty well. The Uniforest model I bought was quite a bit better priced vs. the comparable Farmi. So far it works fine but we haven't done very much with it yet.

You should also keep an eye on Craig's and Ebay, since a used one will sometimes come up for sale.

I have Farmi 501 and could not be happier with it.
I had looked at Fransgard, Tajfun, and Farmi and decided the Farmi was the way to go. Bought through Northeast Implement and even with the shipping along with the discounts on accessories and the freebies they through in it came out to the best price. Farmi is a workhorse of an implement.

Boy, that is a beautiful scene, but reminds me of what's to come... wet boots, cold nose, frozen fuel lines, and jumper cables ....But on the plus side, I'm looking forward to no bugs :thumbsup:
