3 Pt drop

I have a 4100 with FEL and when lowering the weight box
on the 3pt it seems to jerk alot. Is this normal or not.
New to this tractor stuff but love it. Any info appreciated

rcambray, since I own Kubota instead of Deere, and am not very familiar with your model, I guess I'm not the best one to try to answer, but doesn't your tractor have an adjustment knob to adjust the lowering speed of the 3-point? I think it does. If so, tighten it a bit to slow the lowering speed and I think you'll get rid of that jerking. At least that's the way it works on my Kubota.

I don't believe its normal,for my 3pt hitch doesn't act that way w/ballast on.

Do you have adjustment of sort and hows your hyd fluid level.

rcambry, ditto on what Bird told ya. Deere refers to it in the manual as Speed of Drop/ Lock Valve. Its located just below the seat. Fine tuning that valve should smooth things out.

If jerky means that the ballast box just drops instead of lowers, then Bird's comment pointing out the flow control valve should do the trick. If jerky means that there are abrupt repeated changes of speed after the 3ph lever is pushed down, then that may be another issue. The 3ph on my Ford may drop an implement too fast or too slow, but the movement while an implement is lowering remains smooth.
