Don't know what to call it. I just want to be able to move my trailers and pull/lift other items. Any ideas before I weld it up.

I made this from a old truck hitch, just cut and made it shorter and added a top piece for the top link.. I got $20.00 in the whole thing...

Just remember when using this type of hitch that, unlike a classic drawbar, there is nothing to prevent the hitch from rising unexpectedly. If pulling a trailer, be sure to have good weight distribution.

You lost on that one. Why would it rise unexpectedly?

Since my box scaper is almost always on my tractor, I welded a tab on the back and put a ball on it. I mostly move my trailers empty, so there is not a heavy load. for heavy stuff, I use my truck.

If pulling a trailer with weight center of gravity behind trailer wheels, the trailer tongue will rise since only gravity is holding it down... This can be a VERY bad thing if pulling a trailer full of firewood down a steep grade.

This all assumes that your tractor doesn't have down pressure on the 3-point hitch - the vast majority don't.

Yes is true-- With these type 3pt hitches if moving a trailer that is rear heavy it "could" raise the lower arms up. Hooked to a truck it picks the rear of the truck up the same way. They are handy as heck when move empty or lightly loaded trailers around. Almost all trailer empty will have togue weight but you should know about this before moving heavy rear loaded trailers;)

It looks good to me. It will be easier to drill the holes for the ball hitches before welding it all togeather.
