I have a Ford 3500 circa 65-68 . When I raise and lower the the 3-point
hitch it does nothing to a certain point and then raises all at once.It just started doing this and its hard to blade or brush hog. Any thoughts?

are you in draft mode? that's a classic symptom of draft.

if not draft, then it's likely the cam pin is severly worn and /or the linkage associated with the position control, cam and cam follower pin.

post back.

ps.. this might have gottem more coverage in the NH forum...

Thanks for the reply. I am unsure of what you mean by draft mode.
(pardon my ignorance) Can you explain how to check? Thanks

many tractors have a draft and position control mode. some do this with 2 3pt sticks, some do it with 1 3pt stick, and a draft/position selector. I know a 4600 is a 2 sticker..

I don't collect the industrials *400 and *500, so you will need to look at your top cover to check what you have.

Draft control maintains a constant depth (selectable) for a ground engaging implement (like a plow) under varying ground conditions (hard to soft).

JC,

actually, more precise to say that draft control maintains a constant level of implement draft, and may changed deptch automatically depending on soil conditions.. if thicker harder soil is encountered.. pull goes up.. so the implement may be lifted partially out of the ground to lower the draft.. if soft sand is encountered.. it could be lowered.. etc. draft control on the tractor is the 'sensitivity' setting....

position control is the ones that maintains a constant height / position..

Now I don't have draft control on my rig for personal experience but I do have position control. I don't have up force on my 3 point like most rigs so depending the angle of attack my implement keeps digging in till I lose traction or actually jumps up. I experienced it with my blade trying to move garbage left over from my garden site. My draft control to me is my manipulation of lift as I go forward to maintain constant depth.

3 point lift does not work, hydraculic pump still working but cant get fluid to the lift cylinder. This is a Case 885 tractor. Any ideas????

for sure not familiar with that setup.

can you describe how it is plumbed, and how you know you are getting oil from the pump.

after the pump where does it go.. a relief valve and spool valve of some sort then to the lift cyl?

does the machine have remotes running off the same pump? do they work?

any sort of aux control valve or diverter that may be sending flow elsewhere and locking out 3pt?

I used to own a Case 1410, I'm not sure if it is the same but if it is, there is a valve down near the floor on the right side of the seat that controls the flow of hyd fluid to the 3ph. The knob of the valve moved in and out toward the right tire. If I remember correctly push the knob in and the 3ph was turn off and the loader moved faster, with it out the 3ph worked but my loader moved very slow. Hope this helps...
