my ford tractor 3-point just keeps hoping up and down by itself. what can be wrong with? i just filled with oil and it keeps doing that. i can't find any oil leaks on the ground or anything.

Is it maybe leaking down and then being pushed back up by the hydraulics? If you turn off the tractor, does the three point stay up?

How low was it? You may have air in the system. Hopefully cycling the three point several times should correct the problem.

Bad parachute seal in the lift. Easy to fix. Get the new seal at NH-Ford and be sure to hone the cylinder while you have it open.
Long 2460, about 68 model, strong diesel engine ... rear hydraulics will not go up or down, any movement VERY slow and jumpy.. front bucket worked slow, recent Hy. oil and filter change.. found external hydraulic pump, removed and cleaned, put in all new oil again.. front bucket working fine now but no improvement to rear.. Is there a internal pump ?, screen? or ?.. and if so.. location? how to get to it replace or clean it too ?.. have old owners manual but nothing saying where another hydraulic pump or filter might be located.. Appreciate any help.. Thanks

No internal pump I know of. Here's the deal: Its probably a bad seal on the lift cylinder, but could also be the pressure relief valve or the lever sensor valves. Was your old fluid black?no old oil was ''greyish'' but is like that every time we check it or change it.. tractor is barn kept so not out in the weather..
Will check cylinder lift as have not done that.. Where would we find pressure relief valve or the other valve.. have good mechanic but with little "Long knowledge''... Thanks !!

The pictures show a Ford, but I imagine a Long of that vintage would apply the KISS logic and locate it right near where the position control lever is and where the high line enters the contol valve. On Fords its on the right-hand side of the cylinder. Usually, 6-10 bolts will get you a look-see at the cylinder and seal.
