Price Check 2WD 5252 Diesel for how much???

Guys -

I'm not a huge CC fan (sorry! - had a zero turn once that had some cheap qualities) but there's one on ebay... 5252 DIESEL with very low hours, no attachments with it (bare bones). I'm looking to use it as a mower so don't need 4wd or a loader. I'd have to add a mmm. Would also use it with a 4ft bush hog. Here are my questions:
1 - are these good machines for what I need?
2 - roughly how much is it worth?

5252 diesel? The 5252 came with kohlers!

Yes, it's a 25HP gasser. Unless he converted it

Actually, just looked at (2) of them on ebay.....the one without deck actually looks like it has a diesel, and the other one has the gasser.....hmmmmm....

I just found the tractor in question on ebay. Personally, I'd stay away. At one time it had a loader on it, you can tell because of the cut out for the joy stick. Also, that is most likely a 5234DE, which would mean it would have 4wd. I wonder if they had a problem with the 4wd and eliminated it (which is probably more likely than an engine swap). I also see the update for the high/low but do not see the lever. If you want to be completely safe, get the serial number and have a dealer run a history on the tractor. To me it just doesn't seem right.

I'd have to agree with Vince - if it were me, either switching engines, or insignia would make me very very cautious, and most likely walk away.

It's a 5234d that has a 5252 front axle and hood, no 4wd. Too bad they aren't honest about what they're selling. The buyer is getting a hack job and probably doesn't know it. They wouldn't get the same amount if they were honest and said the tractor was made out of parts from at least 2 different model tractors and who knows if they were even the same year.
