Been thinking about steel tracks lately hence the cat 299.Just curious as to what they are going for new elsewhere as I was quoted roughly $40k more than a new pt110g

There's a member over on HEF that has real-world experience with the steel track option. I bet he'd disagree with your rep.

Bobcat also has a steel track option if yall can get them in Kiwi land.

Define "big bucks" please. Aftermarket rubber tracks for an ASV are in the $4,000 neighborhood, then you have to look at rollers, bogies, etc.
My old Fecon came with steel tracks.

If we didn't do so much work behind houses in expensive developments, it would be steel tracks for sure. Steel tracks cost more, but long term have a lower cost per hour since they last so much longer.
