I am a newbie and need some assistance. I have a 2810HST and it will not start. When you turn the key to start nothing happens. Here's what I have checked so far.
1. The battery is ok - actually it is brand new.
2. PTO is not on.
3. Tractor is in neutral.
4. Voltage on the battery drops when the key is moved to start.

What else should I try? Thanks.

I've recently had issues with the switch on the parking brake pedal. Wiggle the pedal and it will stay running. I plan to look at it this weekend.

I had the same problem. Tore out the dash and checked the switch. that was ok it ended being corrision around the positive battery terminal. Clean both, also checkthe fuel shut off solonoid. Had mine stick in the wrong position not allowing fuel to pass. You will hear a buzzing noise in the solonoid. good luck -- John

Sounds a lot like a loose/dirty connection. Start at the battery and check all necessary connections to make sure they are clean and tight.

I once had a non starter when an electrical contact came off the side of the transmission housing, under the seat area- this registered that the tractor was in neutral. Hard to detect though because the contact was hidden under a wee waterproof rubber hat. It's a great way to disable the tractor quickly if you want to make it safe from thieves, often do it when rainy day makes the descent of the mountain track dodgy - hairpin bends etc.

Is your right side brake on?

I wonder; If one is driving tractor and the switch would malfunction, would tractor shut down? In addition, would this present a safety problem?

Mine has recently. More of a hassle than anything else.

You've gotten lots of good ideas here, start with your battery connections, starter connections. Then check safety switch on the bottom of the seat. These things can be done rather easily. After you've gone that far things will get a little more difficult.

Then check safety switch on the bottom of the seat.
Another excellent suggestion. I was leaving the seat up in wet weather to avoid sitting in a puddle. What happened was moisture in the seat safety switch. I tried WD-40 with limited success but, compressed air was better. Depress the plunger and blow it out.
