I have two questions please.....
1 what oil goes into the gearbox
2 does the replacement scrapper bar have a bevel or is it just a piece of flat stock ?

1. 80-90.

2. No bevel, just holes drilled to accept the bolts. Get the bolts as the heads will be half worn off on the old ones if you've let it wear down a lot.

Best to get a gear oil with an extreme pressure additive. It will say gear oil and extreme pressure on the container.

The extreme pressure additive handles high load contact between two gear faces. Often it is a sulfur compound.

The only caution is if you have a worm gearbox which will likely have one gear made of brass or bronze. The sulfur will attack these metals

Worm gear boxes are found on walk behind snow blowers and on front mount small tractor blowers.
