Tractor
2720
Jumped on the tractor last night to blow snow.(parked in garage) Raised the blower and the back blade, cranked the wheel, moved ahead about a foot and bang, like something snapped in the front end. Engine, drive train I don't know. Shut down, inspected tractor, nothing. Blew the drive, everything seems fine. This was a loud bang. I don't expect anyone to figure this out I just thought their might be a chance someone may have had something similar happen.

Could it be that you popped out of FWD?? do you remember if you used the FWD the last time you used the machine?

PS. I am still waiting on my high pressure hydraulic line to come in. Its been over a month since I got any seat time on a brand new 2720 . How old is your machine?

You may want to jack up the front end and see if the wheels turn freely.

Does the tractor have U-Joints on the front wheel drive?

These can seise at times and make an ugly noise.:):)

So what did you run over?

Seriously now. Do a complete tractor visual (however if this tractor is new to you, you might not know if something looks out of place or not). Check all fluid levels. When things run out of oil they can make loud bangs. Check driveshafts, U-joints. These can break or come loose and make loud bangs when they do. Check the snow blower driveshaft. Disengage blower driveshaft and turn blower auger by hand. Rengage driveshaft. Put tractor in neutral. Disengage FWD. Start engine. Keep rpm low. If engine starts without issue and sounds fine at low rpm raise rpm. If all good move to drivetrain. Keep RPM low. Put in L. Move FWD/REV. Engage FWD. Move FWD/REV. Engage PTO for snow blower. Again keep RPM low. Then raise rpm. Somewhere along this troubleshooting journey you should find whatever is the issue.

If you had used the blower before and there was an ice buildup on the front pto shafts or wheels, then it may have cut loose and wacked some sheet metal.

If the tractor still moves under its own power, get out there and blow some snow. You can figure it out later...
