I'm trying to hook up the power beyond hydraulic line to my back hoe. I can't close the collar on either of the ends, however when I reconnect the power beyond to itself, no problem. That leads me to believe I have pressure in the back hoe lines. I've moved all the levers back and forth etc. but there's no relief in the pressure.

Help please! Thanks in advance for ideas.

You will have to relieve the pressure by either using a brass punch to depress the poppet in the QD, or using two wrenches to loosen the QD on the hose until the pressure is relieved. Place a rag over the QD to catch the oil and you should be all set.

Thanks kennyd! Much appreciated.

I used the two wrench method...worked like magic. A bit of squirting oil and all is good.

Now I can get to digging out a base for the shed I'm building.

If you're tool-less, on my tractor the top connector is a right angle which makes it much easier to give it a good smack. Once I got this one in (with minimal fluid splatter) it equalized the pressure and the second connector was easy. Of course, I wear work gloves and protective sunglasses pretty much all the time so if you're protection-less as well this may not be the best of solutions.

I always had this problem when I used Amsoil hydro. Much less so with the stock Deere LV hydro. In fact I can always seem to push things together now.
I'm wondering if there is a way to avoid this problem, it sounds like an oil expansion/contraction one to me.

Usually thermal expansion and contraction causes it. I cover my equipment with a silver tarp when it gets stored outside which helps a lot. Also make sure you relieve the pressure before you disconnect it, my issue with the backhoe was the frigid cold weather we had over the winter and some uneven ground causing the stabilizers to shift into a higher pressure position while they were disconnected. I've never had an issue with the loader, though.
