Does anyone have any info on the brakes of a JD 2640? Currently having an problem where the brakes have to be pumped to get any braking power, and sometimes that will still provide nothing. Do they use hydro oil for the brakes? Consider me a novice on this, just looking for any kind of info so i can look into this. Thanks

Hyd trans pump fills brake valve reservoir then hyd oil is utilized similar to brake fluid. I'd suggest to bleed brakes. Bleeder is located on the inside top of axle housing. If bleeding doesn't help then I'd suggest to cap brake lines to see if brake valve will pump up & hold.

First bleed brakes and if still on brakes .......then test by depressing one pedal very fast and then slow .......if you have brake on one pedal when depressing very fast but slow nothing..... then the valve inside is no good and needs replacing
Then do same with other pedal .

Remove the brake line from the brake valve ,with a hand pump, pump up the brake to 100 P S I and see if maintains pressure if it doesnt you have leaking O
rings on the brake piston.
