264 - What is this?

What is this piece and should it be connected to something? Not sure if it痴 related or not but my trans fluid sight glass is empty even after putting in 3 gallons but I can稚 find a leak anywhere.

Looks like a hydraulic damper cylinder.. :2cents:

+1 for the damper cylinder of the HST linkage. Although it shouldn't be flopping around like that. There should be a tube where that thing slides into.
