2615 vs 3215

Your crazy to not spend the extra $2400 and get the better machine. When I was shopping $2400 would have got me a 3015 HST which was not really that much more tractor than the 2615 gear considering that I was concerned with PTO HP and weight. The loader on the 2615 is a little weak. I am considering upgrading to a 3215 in the future since the extra HP and better loader are definitly the weak points on the 2615.

However, if you don't plan to lift much with your loader and you don't expect to need to mow really thick grass/hay then the 2615 is "good enough".

Again, appreciate the input. Main uses will be mowing 4 acres pastrure a few times a year, routine grading of corrals and small arena, and loader work to move manure semi routnely. An probably once or twice a year, I get a load of gravel screenings and move it around with a loader (rented tractor).

No doubt the 2615 is enough. Questioin is - for $2500 more, should I go with the 3215? In part, more power and capabilities (marginal and not really needed) plus I do like the new platform of the 3215. On one hand, $2500 is a significant chunk, on the other hand if I am spending $14K plus, make sure I get "what I want".

Now, if we get more land in the future - would like to but not sure if or when - bigger may help out.

Some time this week need to stop by dealer and "test drive". Will bring wife - she's always a fan of bigger/newer.

Also begs the question - if I consider a 3215 - the Kubota L3400 is pretty much the same price. Would that make sense? (Do like the Mahindra better) - but is orange better for resale? I know I know - don't worry about that, buy what you wnat.

GllinMO,
If you will be working alot in and around the corral and esecially a barn, smaller may be better. A bigger machine in a barn can be like a bull in a china closet.

Nice weather today - went for some test drives at my local Mahindra dealer.

First off, I decided I could not jsutify the extra $$$ for the 3215. So I drove a 2615. Nice tractor. Clutch not the most convenient - arc of clutch pedal is "out". But, plenty of room in the cockpit. Overall, what I expected. It will work.

Then I sit on the 3215. more room at the seat. Clutch pedal goes down - a much more natural stroke, and less effort too. I do like the mat - I know - not a big deal. Dealer says let me get a key. So I drive it. Really love the synchro on the for the forward - reverse on the trans. Overall - I love it.

So - Do I really want to spend the extra for the $$$ 3215? Looking that way.

Also - stopped by the second location of the local Deere - kubota dealer. Again looked at the L2800. Nice tractor. better price than the first location. More $$$ than the 2615 gear - but probably worth it. But still not the chocie compared to the 3215. (And the 3215 has that cute little turbo).

Santa would likely want one to match his suit. Have a great Christmas.

Santa always wants to take my 2615 out for a spin when he drops by. But if you get a 3215 then he may not want to stop by my place any more! :D

The 2615 uses a two-stage clutch, and the travel portion (the PTO is the first stage) of the clutch is the second stage, that is why the tractor does not start moving until the clutch is raised a little higher. The 3215 has a single stage clutch which feels different....better in my opinion.

Spend the extra $$, get what you want, you will have it for decades.
