Seems like my search for a tractor is coming down to a decision between a new 2615-gear and 3215-gear. I had pretty much settled on the 2615 - like the larger size and loader compared to the 2015. Wife saw a 3215 - she likes the new styling etc of the 3215, plus we both like the larger volume bucket size. Are some minor diffs - turbo engine, diff gear transmissions. General question I have is that is the 3125 be a better value for the an extra $2400? Either would fill the bill nicely for me. Thanks much for any and all input.

Like you I also compare the 2615 to the 3215. I liked the shuttle shift on the 3215 and the higher HP. But in the end I went with the 2615 gear.

It has done everything I need to do, most things I want to do, and somethings I am surprised that it did.

I have had mine since August 2007 and almost have 100 hrs on it. No real problems or issues so far.

I have used a plow (2 bottom), 7ft disc, 5ft bush hog, have pulled a 7ft grader blade ( I like the 5ft I have now better), and cut a whole bunch of fire wood. FEL has been strong enough, but a little more capacity would never hurt.

In the end it came down to my Budget and I could not spend the extra $2500

I think either one will serve you well (2615 or 3215)

Hi GLL, 16 months ago I was in your situation. I compared carefully, and ended up getting the 3215 gear. I like the much newer styling and modern instrument panel. And the rubber floor deck mat. The ML 111 loader has larger cylinders and will lift substantially more weight.

If you are planning on using any implements that use the rear PTO, such as a bush hog (field & brush mower) or tiller, the 3215 has significantly more PTO horsepower. Also, that extra power was well used when I was pulling a heavy disk harrow in soft ground.

The 3215 was an excellent machine for me. I kept it for one year, then traded it on a new 2415 gear, I needed a smaller tractor.

I have a 2615 and it is a fine tractor. I would go for the 3215 though. The 3215 wasn't around when I bought my 2615.

Have you looked at the 2815HST, it has the same body but without the turbo cost. Also have you and your wife gone to a dealer and test driven either tractor, the HST is by far the better tractor than a gear one, I'll never go back to gear. The big thing is your wife may even like the way the tractor operates, but the downside is you may have trouble getting the tractor away from her!

The 2815HST is about $500 less than the 3215 gear. Dealer does not have a 2815 in stock - so I cannot test drive one. (all he has is 3215G and 2615G). Maybe I should look into it.

Question - on the 2815 HST - how is the trans controlled - foot or lever. To me the foot controls are a pain.

Do appreciate the comments - That's why I asked. Gary

HST is run by floor pedals. I prefer gear drives myself anyway....

The trans control is mounted on the left fender and has three positions, High,Medium and Low. The right floor area has the HST pedals which controls the forward and reverse movement, it has two separate pedals. and not a center pivot point like some other tractors (Kioti).
Also where are you located, maybe other members can help point to a dealer with a better price, it seem 500 isn't much of a price break between the two models. Also I've posted pictures of my tractor under other threads which might help you.

Dealer i am looking at is a very local dealer - about 2 miles from my house. Definetely an "old school" dealer - like what I worked with back in the 70's. Seems like a nice guy to work with, and my limited comparisons seem to indacte the prices are atr least "fair" - probably not bottom dollar.

He does not have 2815 HST in stock, and for the "price diff: he compared the MSRP between the 2815hst and 3215 gear (both use the same loader).

I dunno - I could go either way between those two. 2615 probably the better buy for me. Need to do a test drive when the weahter clears.

Would like to see a Massey 1528 - but there is not a dealer close.

GLLinMo,
What is your major use for the tractor to be bought? Mowing, plowing, general loader work? All else being equal........nothing beats cubic inches;) and the heavier the tractor, the better for dirt work.
hugs, Brandi
