Stopped at my dealer today and picked up an oil filter and was surprised to find he did not carry synthetic oil for the engine. I bought the filter and intend to switch over to Rotella. While I was there he told me of a reflash for my tractor. Said it does a few things and may add a small amount of torque. My temp gauge works fine so no issue there. Guess it puts more volts to the egr valve as some have been having an issue and this should take care of it. Anyone had it done?

Mahindra does not supply synthetic oil, We are a Mahindra + Bobcat dealer here and bobcat offers a cj-4 compliant synthetic oil. we use 10-30 non syn. cj-4 bobcat engine oil in these tractors with good success!

I did but it was a 1538 with an inop temp gauge. Same engine so I imagine the ECUs are the same too. Maybe the ECU code changes with the different gauge clusters as it was likely that little bit that wasn't done right in mine. The engine ran OK it was just the inop temp gauge. Maybe it had code for a 2538 in it. I can think of probably four code variances for the same engine used in different tractors.
I went with synthetic too. Most OEMs get around to synthetic oil sooner or later but I wouldn't let that stop me. As long as it's full synthetic and the right weight range you're golden.

Did the ECU update yesterday. Only thing I notice is my glow plug light stays on for probably at least 30-45 seconds. Tractor has a different tone until that goes out. Then all the same after that. I will be putting Rotella in the tractor today or tomorrow as that is what we run in all of our diesel trucks. Then I have to do the transmission pretty quickly also. Anyone put the tranny over to synthetic and if so what brand oil?
