If anyone has the opportunity to post or e-mail several photos of a 2520 with the 46bh, I'd appreciate the effort. I'd like to see a unit set up, get a feeling of the size etc., before I place my order. Thanks in advance for the effort. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Here's a picture with my wife next to my tractor. She's 5ft 3" and 115lbs for reference. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for taking the time, I've only been able to see the 2520 in pictures, and this is the first view of the 46bh. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Have you found the bh to be capable? Appreciate the pix.

I have found it very capable. I pulled 12 stumps 4-6 inch trunk diameter. Dug holes for 6 trees (5 feet wide by 3 feet deep). It was very easy to take off. Took 10 minutes tops. I have the independent lift for the mower deck and that was a PITA to put on. Took about an hour. Definitely need to use the backhoe only in the spring and fall, not during mowing season. I got the 9 inch bucket because I have heavy clay soil. Probably would go 12-16 if I had sandy soil.

To put the BH on, you had to completely uninstall the independent lift, didn't you? If not, what is the half-way point?

I just experienced this on Saturday. It was definitely unexpected, and more than just a PITA.

I am going to have the dealer migrate me back to the mechanical lift and I am going to have JD send me the first lock-up pin out of the factory this spring.

Basically I switched any cotter pins to spring pins to make it easier. I took off the independent lift bracket with 4 bolts and left the draft arms connected to the bracket ( so it all stays in 1 piece). I left the height adjustment lever assembly on the tractor as it doesn't get in the way of the BH. The only problem with the mech lift is there is no way to lock the mower deck when you want to us the 3pt hitch. I use my 3pt sprayer and blade fairly often with the mower deck on and it's nice to lock the mower deck high with the independent lift. With the 3pt mech lift the mower deck would be on the ground when I would be trying to use my 3pt attachments.

I originally had the mechanical lift and know too well the issues that exist without a lock-up. JD promises a lock-up for the 2520 yet this spring which should alleviate that problem.

The lock-up cable was the only thing I could leave on the tractor. I had to take the bracket with the pillow boxes off as well as the hydraulic cylinder. I fished out the hydraulic lines as well because I could find no "safe" place to put the cylinder once detached since I push the operator's seat all the way back.

Did you have to do this too?

I followed your suggestion and loaded up on some user-friendly hardware to replace the wire pins, etc.

I went to put the bronze lift assembly back onto the tractor (the rotating assembly that lifts the lift arms and is operated by the single hydraulic cylinder) and it doesn't fit back onto the black brackets mounted to the underside of the rear axle.

I recall having to "tap" this assembly off [with a hammer] as it stayed in place even after the four bolts were removed. The fit is so tight that I cannot "tap" it back on. So instead, I have "tapped" my dealer and asked him to determine what is wrong with this setup.

Did you have any problems with this?

I don't have any trouble taking off the lower assembly. I actually have to hold the bottom as i remove the bolts so it doesn't fall on the ground. That is also the last thing I remove and the first i put on. I don't remove the bronze plate on the left side, just the hydraulic cylinder. I wonder if your lower bracket was bent by something.
