Hi all. I'm new to all this, my first post.
Been wondering if JD did anything to correct the conflict between the mmm and 46 bh frames on the 2520. I was all set to buy one with turf tires, the
62d mower, 200 cx loader and the 46 hoe until I read that there's a problem with the frames. I don't want to have to spend 2 hours or more removing bh frame when I only have an hour to mow.
Dealer wasn't aware of this until I showed him what I found.

Also...what does everyone think of a woods of bushhog bh if the 46 doesn't mount right?

Thanks all...Justoldernow

I'm not positive about turf tires (they may be a bit wider, but I'd go with the R4s with the backhoe since you may need the traction), but I think it's only an issue if you go with the hydraulic lift kit. Even that's not too bad, just an extra 4 bolts on the mower frame but the backhoe subframe comes off with the backhoe and is pretty easy to uninstall/reinstall. See this post for some pictures.

JD -

Maybe you can answer my question - From looking at the parts diagram on the JD web site, it appears that the frame that attaches the 62D to the 2520 is a pin connection to two brackets at the front and some kind of brackets that attach to the three point draft arms (for NON hydraulic lift).

It appears that, to get the mower attaching frame off, you just pull two pins at the front and two at the draft arms. Am I correct, or is there more to it than that? (again, I'm interested in the non-hydraulic lift version)

Thanks.

I think that the majority of the construction of the two is the same, so you'd probably still have to remove the axle assembly like in the post I linked to above. Since I only had the mechanical lift briefly I can't be positive about that. However, I also didn't need to remove the mechanical lift to install the backhoe or use my 3PH devices. While it dragged along the ground when I use using a 3PH device like my tiller in retrospect this may have been better fixed by removing the mower deck and using zip ties to strap the arms to the tractor frame. I tend to be lazy and like to make my machines work for me so I liked the idea of a hydraulic lift but if you also have/want a backhoe the zip ties are something to consider.

One more thing, I'm not sure if Justoldernow wanted to mow with the backhoe and loader attached but on my property that wouldn't be an option. The loader sticks out too far in the front to get into the corners and the backhoe is too far out the rear - I'd end up smacking a tree one too many times! If your property is more open than mine it may be an option, but it's another thing to consider.

Thanks JD.

After I posted that, I remembered that I had taken some detail shots of that linkage on a unit sitting on a dealer's lot, waaaaay back before I bought mine.
These pics show it pretty good. Now I see that the rear attachment point is just a flange type thing that is hung on the draft arm pin. So it looks like it would be super-easy to remove when installing the backhoe. In fact, that has to come loose anyway to get the draft arms off in order to attach the backhoe.

Regarding holding the arms up, JD now is listing a lockup kit in the parts catalog, but I can't tell where that attaches to the linkage at. See attached pic.

Thanks again JD & Runner,

Then if I'm reading this right I should be able to change over from backhoe to mower in 15 mins or so? And back to the backhoe in another 15? I think I'll stick to the standard mower lift, I don't see much advantage with the optional lift or am I missing something..

The tractor will be used mostly to mow about 3 acres of lawn. The hoe and loader are for misc. chores I have around here. Thats why I think the turf tires would be best for me JD. I'm pretty fussy with my lawn.
Been mowing it with my X585 the past 2 years which does a great job. I was going to trade the X585 but I just might keep that and get the 2520 with just the loader and hoe if its going to be a pain changing over.

36mo/0% financing is still available on the 2520s here in PA until 2-25. Its not listed on the JD website but 2 dealers said they got a memo on it. Does anyone think there might be better deals during 'Deere Season' which I understand starts in March or April?

I'd really be interested in that new 2720 if anyone knew when it will be available.
