Unfortunately, for my pond project I had to take out 3 large old apple trees. The FEL made short work of it. Pushed them right out of the ground, w/o hesitation. Thoroughly amazed how powerful this tractor is. Back dragged a fair sized area too, FEL works pretty well for leveling. Going to p/u a rear blade this week.

What kind of soil and what size trees? Was any prep done to the tree to get them out? What does the root ball on an apple tree look like?

Too be honest (and not rude) I am kinda having a hard time visualizing the 2520 doing this myself.

My soil has a fair amount of rock in it, no sand, I think the locals call it hard pan? The orchard is old, the soil very fertile. The root balls were approx 3-4' in diameter. No long tap roots, unless they snapped off. I wouldn't except to do the same thing with an oak. Maybe apple trees are weak, but I was impressed nonetheless. Drug 'em away like they were matchsticks.
No prep work, eased up to them and pushed them over.
Not to put down any other unit, because they're all nice, but this 2520 is unbelievably stronger than the 2320 I had.

I own a 3320. I look outside of my house and see our apple tree. I cannot believe I can just go up to it with no prep and push it out of the ground. Glad it worked out for you though and great luck with the pond. Watch out for gravel veins.

BloomningtonMike- I have 35+ old apple trees on my property where we just built a second home. I'm sorry that you believe I'm lying. What's a gravel vein?

Wow sounds like you did an awesome job with your 2520, did you push the whole tree over or did you cut them down and then push the stump out? Just curious.

Didn't prune a branch off. Simply put the bucket about 4" off of the ground and pushed. Once the trees were down I then approached from a 90 angle and pushed them totally free, then drug 'em away. Still like to know what a "gravel vein" is, BM.

It is when you come into a band of gravel deep down as you are digging the pond that would allow the pond to "leak" for a lack of a better term. If that is not atken care of it will never fully fill the pond to its potential.

I am not a pond expert at all but believe I may have this issue in mine. One day I will have the $$$ to get it taken care of but for now I have a ton of water and fish there and no way to get at it. I have heard some people have used clay to fix these issues.

Mike come to GA and get all the clay you want.
